ZINNIA

"Zinnia join our CFMV community in the fall of 2023. Although she had some previous CrossFit experience there were lots of limitations that we had to work through to get her to the fitness level she is at today. One of the main reason’s Zinnia has improved so much over the last 6 months is due to her dedication and work ethic. She has become a regular in our 5:30 AM class, and although she may be hesitant at times to try something new, with some positive reinforcement she always musters up the confidence to step outside her comfort zone. Her biggest highlight so far was participating in the 2024 CrossFit Open.   Keep working and being consistent and good things will continue to happen.  Our community is better with you apart of it!"  - Coach Chris

What do you enjoy most about being a member of CrossFit Middle Village? I enjoy both the community and the coaches. I love the good energy and encouragement from other members, of all fitness levels.  I love that the coaches care, and they pay attention to details.  The programming is varied, and intentional, and the coaches pay attention to how everyone is moving, and they make corrections as needed.  You always feel that everyone wants to be there and loves being part of the CFMV community, its not “cliquey” and new comers are welcomed.

How/when did you get involved in CrossFit? I started Crossfit in December of 2022.  I joined because I knew that it would give me the structure and community I needed.  I found that I hit a wall working out on my own, and I wanted community. I was looking to also build my self-confidence, by learning new movements that I never thought I could do.  Crossfit provides all of that.

What was your first CrossFit workout? How did you feel afterwards?  My first Crossfit workout was very challenging.  We were doing snatches.  It took me a long time to learn this movement. It was frustrating, but I kept practicing.  Once I finally learned the movement, I felt so proud and happy.

What do you enjoy most about CrossFIt? The visible change to my body (building muscle, burning fat), and the mental challenge.

What is your favorite WOD or Lift? My favorite lift is the deadlift.

What is your least favorite WOD or Lift? Least favorite are devils presses and burpees.

What motivates you? I am motivated by my progress. I see my body changing, I am getting stronger and I feel more confident.

How has CrossFit changed you?  Each time I accomplish a challenging lift or make a PR, it increases my confidence and is very satisfying.

What were your goals when you started this journey? My goals were to “lose weight” and become part of a community that would help me along my own personal healing journey.  I have now learned to throw my scale away, eat healthy, live healthy and be more balanced.

What are your goals for the upcoming year? I would like to increase my all of my lifts, but especially my snatch

Do you have any advice for new members? Consistency is key.  Make a commitment to yourself, and keep coming.  Do not be discouraged when you can’t do a movement, if you keep practicing you will get it.
