"This month, we’re thrilled to recognize Tim as our CrossFit Athlete of the Month! Tim embodies what it means to be a hard worker—he shows up consistently, pushes his limits in every workout, and accepts every challenge with determination. As a firefighter, Tim’s strength and resilience inspire us all, but it’s his caring and respectful nature that truly sets him apart. He’s always welcoming to everyone in the gym, creating an environment where everyone feels supported.
And let’s just say we’re all grateful our new water fountain arrived when it did!!! Congratulations, Tim, on being such an incredible part of our community. Keep crushing it!" -Coach Julia
What do you enjoy most about being a member of CrossFit Middle Village?
Becoming friends with my neighbors!
How/when did you get involved in CrossFit?
Almost one year ago. Life and work were getting very busy, and I wanted something that would challenge me.
What was your first CrossFit workout? How did you feel afterwards?
A workout with a lot of squats. I felt great when I left, and sore for a day or two after. All in all it was perfect!
What do you enjoy most about CrossFIt?
The set it and forget it mindset. We know when the classes are, and all we need to do is get to the gym. The hardest part is done once we walk in the door. I also enjoy doing CircHIIT, usually once a week. The workouts and coaches on the other side are great!
What is your favorite WOD or Lift? What is your least favorite WOD or Lift?
I like them all, don't have any least favorite! But my favorite WODs incorporate speed and agility.
What motivates you? How has CrossFit changed you?
To be a good role model for my children, for them to see me as someone that does not get comfortable in life. CrossFit has made me re evaluate what I do the evening before workouts. If I sign up for a morning class, I’m much more likely to eat a healthy dinner and get to bed early
What were your goals when you started this journey ?
First goal was to not get injured. It’s been a slow climb to get my weight “up”, but we’re getting there! Thanks of course to all the great coaches.
What are your goals for the upcoming year?
1. Stop forgetting my red water bottle in the gym 😂
2. Get stronger and faster.
Do you have any advice for new members?
Set realistic goals early on. Don't worry about anyone else’s weight or times. You're going to get very sore, so even 2 days a week to start is great!
