"Being able to coach Jeff is an honor and inspiration. I met Jeff during the CrossFIt Open, specifically the thruster workout, the movement he loves oh so much. I used him as motivation because I thought he was a younger RX'd athlete (still looks young)  and secretly competed against him ;). Since then it's been a pleasure coaching him in the early morning helping him get his day started. It's awesome to see a power couple like he and his wife in class together, competing against each other. No matter how good he gets, Lilly still has the upper hand when it comes to conditioning workouts ;) " -Coach Matt

What do you enjoy most about being a member of CrossFit Middle Village? A LOTCoaches, the programming, and sense of community.  I love seeing how all the members have improved so much and keep getting better every day.  I also enjoy the fact that I get to workout with Lily most days and we can bond over how I beat her in WODs

How/when did you get involved in CrossFit? This September will mark my 11th year in Crossfit.  I was leading a very unhealthy lifestyle and thought something’s got to change so one day I walked into a box having no prior experience and signed a 1 year membership and have continued ever since

What was your first CrossFit workout? How did you feel afterwards? I think it was a combination of shoulder presses, rowing, and pull-ups.  I remember I felt like throwing up and thought I really needed to get in shape.  It definitely motivated me to get better

What do you enjoy most about CrossFIt? Constantly changing workouts.  Every week is different and it’s impossible to find a more effective overall program

What is your favorite WOD or Lift? I can squat clean everyday and be happy

What is your least favorite WOD or Lift? I think it’s common knowledge that everyone hates thrusters

What motivates you? How has CrossFit changed you?  It’s just something that needs to be done like waking up and eating breakfast.  If I didn’t work out when I was supposed to I’d feel guilty all day.

After getting into CrossFit I feel more confident, especially in trying out new activities.

What were your goals when you started this journey ? Get healthier and gain strength

What are your goals for the upcoming year? Stay injury free so that I can be consistent in training. And getting more rounds in than Lily

Do you have any advice for new members? Without pain there’s no growth.  Commit to the program, be consistent and you will see results
