MIKE ZIVOJIN

"I’ve known Mike for just about 10 years now.  Over the years I’ve seen Mike grow into the athlete that he is today. Mike is one of us older dogs, masters athlete, or like I like to say a Shinny Apple! Through his consistency and dedication to moving with virtuosity there aren’t many movements that Mike cannot do. He always gives 120% and most importantly embraces the community aspect of our culture. Always cheering and motivating those around him.  Keep working hard and good things will continue to happen!" -Coach Chris

What do you enjoy most about being a member of CrossFit Middle Village? Too much to say but what I enjoy the most is that people tolerate me yelling and hyping everyone for the workout. I haven't seen any dirty looks yet…

How/when did you get involved in CrossFit? I was taking Spin class in the local gym and saw some construction going on in the room next door.  Next thing you know I saw a sign for Crossfit Ridgewood, took the introduction class and fell in love.  This was June 2014.

What was your first CrossFit workout? How did you feel afterwards? All I remember is Coach Chris having us do 10x10 Front Squats every other minute type setup (Very light weight) on a Saturday and I took Spin class before it.  Well I did not make it past the 5th round and then I knew the deal! Peace out Spin class!

What do you enjoy most about CrossFIt?  One day it's heavy lifting, the next day is all bodyweight stuff, and the community is always a good energy.

What is your favorite WOD or Lift? Grace!

What is your least favorite WOD or Lift?.  Cindy!

What motivates you? How has CrossFit changed you? Trying to live my best life in the best shape that I can.  Crossfit made me realize that you need to prepare yourself to do your best at anything, make sure you eat and sleep right, otherwise you're going to have a tough time.

What were your goals when you started this journey ? My goal when I first started my journey was to lose weight but was to have some structure in my workouts.  Before crossfit, I was just going with the flow but was getting me nowhere.

What are your goals for the upcoming year? Working on my endurance capacity so I'm going to push a little harder this year.

Do you have any advice for new members? My advice for new members is to get to know the coaches.  They will look out for you but if you don't build a relationship with them they will not know your goals and how to guide you to them.
