BRIANA

"Briana came to us last October when her current CrossFit box was closing. At the end of her trial period she thanked me and then told me I wish you had an 8 AM CrossFit class because the 9:15 is a little too late with getting to work on time.  I told her unfortunately we haven’t had much success with that time slot in the past. I wished her all the best and told her she is more than welcome to continue to drop in from time to time when her schedule allows.  About a week later Briana was at the 9:15 class again, and she told me she joined. From that day she has been a staple in our community. Being a former athlete she takes her fitness serious. She arrives early to do the need to do things to assure that her knee stays healthy. She communicates daily on how her body is feeling to determine how hard to push or how to pull back a little to assure that she stays healthy and has no set backs.  Briana is an amazing team player. Always the first to celebrate when a fellow member achieves a milestone.  I personally had the privilege to partner with her  when completing a 400 meter burpee broad jump workout (surprisingly one of the hardest thing I ever did, and if I wasn’t partner with her I might have quit ). Briana, congratulations on being our athlete of the month for September 2024. Keep taking your fitness serious and I look forward to all your progress that awaits" -Coach Chris

What do you enjoy most about being a member of CrossFit Middle Village?

Everyone is extremely welcoming and supportive. When my old box closed, I tried out a few other places before I came to CFMV. I tried one class and the rest was history. Chris and the members welcomed me with open arms. I was elated to find somewhere it felt like family. In February, shortly after I became a member, I had a knee injury that kept me away for a few months. During that time,  the coaches and members checked on me to keep my spirits high, assuring me I would be back and better. Joining CFMV has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

How/when did you get involved in CrossFit?

I knew I needed a change when going to traditional gyms started to feel like a drag. I became despondent after not seeing results. I stopped going to the gym for 1 year in 2021. April of 2022, I tried my first CrossFit class because I needed a challenge and wanted a change.

What was your first CrossFit workout? How did you feel afterwards?

I do not remember my first CrossFit workout but I remember when I first did Helen I didn’t have pull ups and used a 18 pound kettlebell. I felt so defeated after that work out. A year later, I went RX.

What do you enjoy most about CrossFIt?

The community. There are days where I don’t feel like working out but once I walk through the doors CFMV that changes. We are all there together, from different walks of life trying to be our best.

What is your favorite WOD or Lift? What is your least favorite WOD or Lift?

My favorite lift is the squat clean. My least favorite used to be the overhead squat but since joining CFMV that feeling has subsided. I have PR’ed in every lift.

What motivates you? How has CrossFit changed you?

My loved ones motivate me. I’m intentional about my circle of family and friends that are in my life. When I am struggling during a lift or WOD, I think of them and they are what keeps me going. CrossFit has not only made me fall in love with myself, physically but mentally and emotionally as well. I am a better Briana because of CrossFit. When you look and feel good, you can accomplish anything.

What were your goals when you started this journey ?

When I first started CrossFit, I just wanted to enjoy working out again. I never knew I would see the results that I see now.

What are your goals for the upcoming year?

To continue to be present and enjoy life. Every day is truly a  gift.

Do you have any advice for new members?

You made it through the doors; continue showing up for yourself and watch your life transform. Remember the journey is always the reward. You already made it this far, so just keep going. You have a whole support system behind you at CFMV.
