THE CIRCHIIT DECEMBER ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

ANNE MARIE MARSHALL

What do you enjoy most about being a member of The CircHIIT?

I love the workouts, coaches, and sense of community at The CircHIIT. It's great to walk into a space where the coaches and other athletes know your name and always encourage you.

How/when did you get involved with The CircHIIT?

I started in September of 2018. My daughter was working with Chris and she was loving her workouts. Once I met the coaches and tried a few classes, I was hooked.

How did you feel after your first workout at The CircHIIT?

Probably exhausted, I'm sure. I was pretty out of shape at that time! But I also remember liking the challenge of the class.

What do you enjoy most about The CircHIIT?

Every workout is different and challenges me in new ways.  The coaches are motivating and knowledgeable...and are willing to help you moDify movements as needed. I also really enjoy partner workouts. It says something about the quality of the workouts when the coaches are taking classes alongside you.

What is your favorite station and movement at The CircHIIT?

I love the bike and the rower. In terms of strength movements, my favorites are deadlifts and wall balls...brings me back to my days as a collegiate shot putter.

What is your least favorite stations/ movement at The CircHIIT?

Push-ups, pull-ups, and burpees, oh my!

What motivates you?

Both my daughter and my late father motivate me. My daughter is a very accomplished student-athlete and I try hard to keep up with her fitness focus. My dad was a competitive rower and so I try to make him proud every time I strap my feet into the rowing machine.

How has The CircHIIT changed you?

Besides becoming 35 lbs healthier, I am so much stronger than I was one year ago.  I have also recommitted to being healthier in other aspects of my life- sleeping, eating, mindfulness, self-care, etc.

What were your goals when you started this journey?

My goal was to just get to class 1-2 days a week.  Now I get to 4-5 classes a week.

What are your goals for the upcoming year?

To continue to keep getting stronger and to work on the things that I"m not good at yet. I am also looking forward to getting back to running. I’m working through an injury now that keeps me from running at the moment.

Do you have any advice for new members?

Sometimes just getting in the door is the hardest part. Once inside, you'll find lots of friendly faces and encouraging voices. You'll be glad you came!
